/ DANGDI / DANGDI / DANGDI /Buying goods online from outside the EU will cost more from Sunday, November 1st. The EU will charge a new €2 fee on imported parcels. The rule applies to all packages regardless of value. This charge comes on top of the €3 tax added in July.
The fee applies to each category of items in a package. A box with caps, shirts, and belts has three categories. That order will trigger a total fee of €6. Sellers pay the fee but can charge buyers at checkout. Postal services cannot demand extra payment at the door.
The new fee aims to slow down cheap imports into Europe. Nearly 5.9 billion small parcels entered the EU in 2025. About 93 percent came from China via sites like Shein and Temu. Small parcel imports dropped by 64 percent after the July tax took effect.
The €2 processing fee is a permanent measure. EU officials will review the fee amount every two years. The €3 tax is temporary and will end in July 2028. Standard EU customs duties will replace that tax in 2028. The Local reported the new rules.
