EU to charge 3 euros per item on packages from non-EU online shops

Starting November 1, the EU is introducing a handling fee on non-EU packages.
The fee is 3 euros for each item inside a package.
This extra cost applies on top of existing customs duties.
The Danish Customs Agency announced the new rule in a press release.
According to the agency, the fee helps manage the large volume of incoming parcels.
It also aims to strengthen border control across EU member states.
Additionally, authorities want to create fairer competition for Danish and European businesses. (Source: DR)
