Official re-checks will focus on employment history and potential criminal activity. Social Democratic spokesperson Rasmus Stoklund defended the stricter procedures. He noted that Danish citizenship rules are tougher now than in previous years. Right-wing politicians like Inger Støjberg questioned the government’s approach.
Danish People’s Party member Anders Vistisen raised security concerns during the debate. Stoklund urged politicians to report any law-breaking applicants to the Naturalisation Committee.
