/ DANGDI / DANGDI / DANGDI /Denmark may change its CPR system following a massive personal data breach. Digitalization Minister Christina Egelund expects to share details soon. She spoke to news agency Ritzau about the review.
Authorities launched a major security review of the register on Monday. The review follows a serious security leak. Unauthorized people accessed CPR numbers for ten days. The breach affected 8.8 million living and deceased people.
CPR numbers serve as primary personal identification in Denmark. Authorities and local businesses rely on them daily. The breach raised questions about issuing new CPR numbers. Other experts suggest redesigning the entire national system.
Egelund said it is too early to decide on new numbers. First, officials must check if the current system can be secured. Then, they will consider a full system overhaul, according to CPH Post.
