/ DANGDI / DANGDI / DANGDI /Train travel between Odense and Fredericia will take longer through Sunday, October 18. Denmark national rail operator DSB announced the delays on Monday. Rail replacement buses now run instead of regional trains on this route. InterCity and InterCityLyn trains still operate but must run at slower speeds. This disruption affects travel between Copenhagen, Funen, and Jutland.
The delays stem from a signal system fire on Friday. A fire burned a trackside relay hut near Aarup in western Funen. This building contained electronic equipment for railway signaling. The fire caused widespread signal failures across western Funen.
A second incident caused further trouble early on Monday morning. A tree fell onto an overhead power line in western Funen. Train traffic between Odense and Fredericia stopped completely in both directions. Funen Police reported the fallen tree incident. InterCity and InterCityLyn services resumed at around 6 a.m. on Monday.
Regional trains remain suspended on this section. Buses continue to replace regional trains due to the signal damage. Passengers traveling across Funen should allow extra time for their journeys. Normal operations will resume after repairs are finished, according to Copenhagen Post.
