/ DANGDI / DANGDI / DANGDI /Denmark expects a major flu wave this coming winter. Statens Serum Institut warns that infection numbers could be high. COVID-19 cases should remain at a much lower level. Flu cases and hospital stays could both increase sharply.
Both influenza A and influenza B will spread this season. Flu A caused most infections in recent years. Flu B stayed at low levels for a long time. People now have less natural immunity against flu B. Therefore, flu B may cause more cases this year.
Seniors aged 65 and older can get free vaccines. These shots cover both flu and COVID-19. Health officials say the vaccines offer strong protection. Pregnant women can also get free RSV shots.
Last year, infant hospital stays dropped by 70 percent due to RSV shots. Health experts expect similar success for babies this winter. Older children and adults may still get mild RSV symptoms. According to CPH Post, these symptoms usually resemble a standard cold.
