Danish Citizenship Talks Seek 'Tough but Smart' Rules
Denmark's citizenship bill is moving forward again, with upcoming negotiations aiming to update value screening rules and potentially count university study.

The Social Liberal Party wants future citizenship rules to be tough but smart.
Party spokesperson Magnus Georg Jensen shared these goals with news site The Local.
Negotiations across parliament will start early next year.
The party wants time spent in higher education to count toward citizenship.
Currently, higher education does not count toward residency requirements.
However, working as a gig economy delivery driver does count.
The party also wants minor offences like speeding to no longer disqualify applicants.
Parliament is also designing a new values screening system.
This system aims to filter out people who oppose democratic principles.
It focuses on issues like gender equality, forced marriage, and inciting violence.
Jensen opposes proposals for a five-year probationary period after receiving citizenship.
