/ DANGDI / DANGDI / DANGDI /European Schengen borders now check real-time security alerts instantly. European travelers should carry valid passports and residence permits at all times.
On October 15, 2026, the European Union upgraded the Schengen Information System. The system now shares security alerts from non-EU countries in real time.
Member states can enter trusted data with support from Europol. Border guards and police officers across Europe access this data immediately.
The new alerts cover foreign fighters and serious criminal suspects. EU Commissioner for Internal Affairs Magnus Brunner commented on the change.
He stated that real-time alerts allow officers to act before threats cause damage. Existing alerts like arrest warrants and entry refusals remain active. This update was reported by the European Commission.
