/ DANGDI / DANGDI / DANGDI /Thousands of households in Denmark will pay more for heating in 2027. Ten district heating companies have announced price increases so far. Most suppliers are raising rates between six and ten percent. This change will directly affect monthly utility bills for many residents.
Building specialist Tue Patursson from Bolius explained the situation to TV 2. He said district heating plants rely on biofuel, gas, oil, and electricity. Rising costs for these energy sources push heating prices up across the country.
Some local areas face even larger price jumps. Customers in Præstø in South Zealand face a 40 percent increase next year. The local heating plant tried to switch from fossil fuels to electricity. However, the local power grid lacks sufficient capacity. Board chair Morten Møller Kristensen said the plant had to return to gas. Several other heating plants face similar grid challenges during their green transition.
The Danish parliament approved an emergency plan for the electricity grid on October 1. This plan lets authorities prioritize access to limited power capacity. Many district heating companies have not yet released their 2027 prices. The full national impact remains unclear for now. (Source: Copenhagen Post)
