/ DANGDI / DANGDI / DANGDI /One in three Danish public school teachers reported verbal abuse from pupils last week. This trend highlights growing behavioral challenges inside local classrooms for parents and educators. Education publication Folkeskolen reported the findings from a recent trade survey. Four in ten teachers experience rude language daily or several times a week. The survey gathered responses from 1,901 teachers and kindergarten leaders. It took place between August 26 and September 14, 2026.
Teachers reported hearing insults like 'you are a damn idiot' from students. Lars Peter Sønderbo Andersen researched occupational medicine at Regional Hospital Gødstrup. He noted that abusive language damages working conditions and classroom authority. He confirmed that student language problems have worsened in recent years. A similar survey ten years ago showed one in four teachers affected monthly.
The Danish Union of Teachers expressed deep concern over the new findings. Union representative Thomas Andreasen said abusive comments strongly affect staff. He urged schools to set clear rules for acceptable language. He also called for having more permanent teachers in classrooms.
