Electric Vehicle Cable Theft Causes Millions in Damage

Electric car drivers in Denmark face growing trouble at public charging stations. Thieves have stolen around 250 charging cables across the country this year.

The thefts caused up to seven million Danish kroner in total damages. Industry group Drivkraft Danmark shared these figures with news agency Ritzau. About 150 cables were stolen since August alone.

Thieves cut cables to sell the copper inside. High copper prices drive this crime. However, the stolen copper is worth only 37,000 Danish kroner in total.

Drivkraft Danmark plans to push scrap metal dealers to stop these sales.
