/ DANGDI / DANGDI / DANGDI /The Danish government plans to remove state education grants for many high school students.
This change affects students living with parents who earn over 710,000 DKK annually.
About 81,000 upper-secondary and vocational students could lose their monthly support.
Students living away from home will keep their current grant levels.
Lower-income families will also continue to receive support.
The proposal is part of Denmark's updated 2027 budget plan.
It is not yet law and needs final parliamentary approval.
Currently, students living at home receive 1,154 DKK per month before tax.
The new plan removes this payment entirely for families above the income limit.
The national student organization DGS strongly criticized the government plan.
They argue the rule will hurt ordinary working families across the country.
Two governing parties previously opposed cuts to student grants.
However, they accepted the change as part of the broader budget deal.
The government must now secure final support in parliament.
