/ DANGDI / DANGDI / DANGDI /Grocery budgets in Denmark get a boost from a new agricultural decision.
Local fruit and vegetable prices should remain stable throughout 2027.
Denmark announced temporary nitrogen exemptions on October 8, 2026.
The rule applies to strawberries, melons, pumpkins, rhubarb, and table grapes.
Nursery plants will also receive an exemption.
The Danish parliament approved new environmental restrictions in September.
These regulations start at the beginning of 2027.
They aim to reduce nitrogen pollution from farmland into the sea.
Agricultural experts warned that strict limits could harm local food production.
The government originally planned exemptions mainly for potato growers.
Officials have now expanded the list to support more farmers.
Nature and Animal Welfare Minister Christian Rabjerg Madsen welcomed the change.
He noted that growers need more time to adjust to new environmental rules.
The ministry added that these crops use a small share of farm land.
Therefore, the temporary policy will not hurt overall environmental goals.
According to CPH Post, the exemptions will apply strictly through 2027.
