Copenhagen Apartment Prices Drop After Years of Growth

Buying an apartment in Copenhagen may soon become easier for local residents. Average apartment prices in the capital fell by 0.5 percent in August compared to July. Data from the real estate website Boligsiden shows this market shift. Prices in Frederiksberg also dropped by 0.5 percent during the same period. Aalborg saw a larger price decline of 2.7 percent in August. However, apartment prices in Aarhus are still rising.

Housing economist Birgit Daetz from Boligsiden explained the reasons for the drop. Fewer apartments were sold in August. It is taking longer for sellers to find buyers. Sellers are now lowering their asking prices. Daetz noted that prices are adjusting to a new market reality. Despite this drop, Copenhagen prices rose over 40 percent in the last two years.
