On October 3, 2026, China's Ministry of Commerce launched an anti-dumping probe. The investigation targets imports of p-nitrotoluene coming from the European Union. This chemical is widely used in pharmaceuticals, dyes, and pesticides.
Chinese producers say EU import volumes stayed very high from 2022 to 2025. During that same time, import prices dropped by nearly 60 percent.
This trade action comes at a very tense moment. EU Trade Commissioner Maroš Šefčovič will soon visit Beijing for trade talks. The new probe signals growing tariff risks between China and Europe. It may affect local companies trading with Chinese partners.
