/ DANGDI / DANGDI / DANGDI /Young adults in Denmark now have guaranteed access to mental health care. This right applies to residents aged 18 to 24. Doctors can refer patients with mild or moderate anxiety and depression. Treatment must start within 30 days of doctor referral.
The new patient right takes effect today. The Danish parliament passed the law in December 2025. It belongs to a 10-year plan for psychiatric care.
Waiting times were unpredictable in the past. Some patients waited six months for care. Other people received care the next day. Jane Alrø Sørensen represents Bedre Psykiatri, a mental health association. She stated that early care helps patients recover faster.
Danish regions will provide the care. Care includes private clinics and public facilities. Patients may get individual sessions, group care, or online courses. Region Østdanmark expects around 9,500 annual referrals. CPH Post reported these new health regulations.
