/ DANGDI / DANGDI / DANGDI /Residents in Denmark will pay higher electricity grid tariffs during peak evening hours. Grid companies across the country are switching to winter rates from Thursday.
The higher tariffs apply between 5 PM and 9 PM every day. Household consumption peaks during these hours and puts heavy strain on the grid.
Grid company N1 supplies electricity to more than 800,000 households and businesses. N1 is raising its peak evening tariff to 99 øre per kilowatt-hour.
This winter rate will remain in effect until March 2027. During the summer, N1 charged 43 øre per kilowatt-hour for those hours.
Nighttime tariffs remain low across the country. Between midnight and 6 AM, the N1 tariff stays at 11 øre per kilowatt-hour.
N1 Chief Executive Lise Bering recommends moving flexible power use to off-peak hours. Residents can charge electric cars or run washing machines at night.
Tariffs vary among different grid operators. East of the Great Belt, Cerius operates much of the electricity grid.
Cerius will charge 129.75 øre per kilowatt-hour between 5 PM and 9 PM. This new rate takes effect from October 1, according to Copenhagen Post.
