/ DANGDI / DANGDI / DANGDI /The Danish Ministry of Green Transition has issued safety guidelines for wolf encounters. You should stay calm and keep your distance if you spot one.
Wolves rarely approach people in Denmark. If a wolf comes within 30 metres, stand still and keep direct eye contact. Do not turn your back or follow the animal. You can clap, shout, or wave your arms to scare it away. If you are inside a car, stay seated until the wolf leaves.
If a wolf threatens or attacks you or your dog, kick and hit it. Denmark has no record of wolves attacking humans. You can also prevent wolves near your home by stopping outdoor animal feeding and bringing pets inside at night. Always keep your dog on a lead.
Wolves are protected in Denmark, but problem wolves can be shot. Report any wolf sightings at ulveatlas.dk to help the Danish Nature Agency.
