/ DANGDI / DANGDI / DANGDI /Volvo is recalling 234,000 electric EX30 cars worldwide due to headrest safety concerns. The recall affects drivers in both Denmark and Sweden. Front headrest cushions could detach during a severe collision. This flaw increases the risk of injury for front seat occupants.
In Denmark, the recall covers 5,542 vehicles from model years 2024 through 2027. This includes both EX30 and EX30 Cross Country models. Affected car owners in Denmark will receive direct messages through e-Boks. In Sweden, slightly more than 15,000 vehicles are affected by the measure. Volvo confirmed the Swedish figures to the automotive publication Carup.
Volvo told the Ritzau news agency that detachment risks are rare. The automaker has received no reports of injuries linked to the issue. Volvo is taking preventive action to strengthen the headrest cushion attachments. The company has also informed relevant transport authorities in both countries.
This marks the second major safety recall for the EX30 model recently. In February 2026, Volvo recalled 40,323 EX30 electric SUVs globally. That earlier recall addressed potential overheating in high-voltage battery packs. According to Reuters, owners were advised to limit charging to 70 percent until replacements occurred.
