/ DANGDI / DANGDI / DANGDI /Flying out of Denmark may soon become more expensive for international travelers. The Danish Climate Council wants higher climate fees on passenger flights leaving Danish airports. This recommendation could increase ticket prices for residents, students, and tourists in Copenhagen.
Denmark already planned to introduce passenger flight fees. The planned fees reach up to 50 Danish kroner within the European Union. Long-haul routes would face fees up to 410 Danish kroner. However, the Climate Council says these planned fees are not high enough.
The advisory council points to rising flight volumes projected for 2026. Higher travel demand increases the environmental impact of aviation. Therefore, the council argues that departure fees must rise further. The proposal aims to encourage greener travel choices.
