Train Delays Between Copenhagen and Western Denmark Until Tuesday Morning

Train travel between Copenhagen and western Denmark faces delays until Tuesday at 10 a.m. Passengers heading west or to Copenhagen Airport should check Rejseplanen before leaving home.

An overhead power wire fell between Sorø and Slagelse on Monday. State rail company Banedanmark is repairing the damaged power line now. Operator DSB says InterCity and InterCityLyn trains are still running. These trains connect Copenhagen and Esbjerg with longer travel times.

Trains can still use the open eastbound track safely. DSB ordered 50 replacement buses for affected passengers. The buses run between Ringsted, Sorø, and Slagelse.

Repairs were first expected to finish by Monday evening. Banedanmark later extended the repair work until Tuesday morning. One train stopped under the fallen wire and was evacuated. Another train pulled the stopped train to the nearest station.

A similar wire issue happened near Sorø in mid-September. Banedanmark maintenance director Nicolai Smidt Sigsgaard said they will investigate repeat failures. A separate wire problem hit Copenhagen Airport station on Monday. That incident caused fewer trains and extra delays for airport travelers.
