Teradyne Robotics Files Patent Lawsuit Against JAKA in Copenhagen

Teradyne Robotics has sued Chinese robot maker JAKA at Copenhagen Unified Patent Court. This lawsuit impacts Nordic tech workers, researchers, and legal experts following tech competition.

Teradyne Robotics is the parent company of Odense-headquartered Universal Robots. The lawsuit targets the German subsidiary of Chinese company JAKA. Teradyne alleges unauthorized use of collaborative robot patents marketed in the EU. These patents cover hardware and software for collaborative industrial robots.

Universal Robots has sold over 100,000 collaborative robots worldwide. Their cobots offer payloads up to 35 kg and reach up to 1750 mm. The robots deliver high precision with repeatability down to 0.03 mm. The UR+ marketplace offers over 500 certified components, grippers, and software kits.

This legal action marks a key IP clash between Nordic and Chinese tech firms. According to Universal Robots, the proceedings were initiated at the UPC Copenhagen division.
