/ DANGDI / DANGDI / DANGDI /Surviving winter in Denmark requires strategy and patience for international residents. Author Barbara Rijks shared her experience in The Copenhagen Post.
She is now entering her fifth Danish winter. She considers herself an expert in surviving the dark months.
She originally grew up in the Netherlands. She did not expect a big difference in Denmark. Only four degrees of latitude separate the two countries.
However, the dark Danish winter felt much harder than expected. During her first winter, she bought a ticket to Thailand. She wanted to escape the dark months.
She felt like a loser for escaping to a beach resort. Over time, she searched for local ways to find warmth. She explored the South Funen Archipelago to cope with the season.
