SIRI Copenhagen office closes after self-immolation incident

Denmark's immigration agency SIRI closed its Valby office in Copenhagen on Monday.

Anyone with an appointment on Monday will get a new time.

The closure happened after a man set fire to himself inside the office.

Police responded to the site on Carl Jacobsens Vej shortly after 10am.

A staff member quickly put out the fire.

Emergency services took the man to Rigshospitalet in central Copenhagen.

Dyre Sønnicksen from Copenhagen police told news wire Ritzau that the injuries are not life-threatening.

Police stated that no one else was injured.

There are no signs that a crime occurred.

Witnesses were shocked and received crisis support.

SIRI confirmed that the situation is now under control.
