Pure petrol cars now make up less than half of Denmark’s passenger fleet.
Data from bilstatistik.dk shows petrol-only cars account for 49.98 percent of registered cars.
That figure is down from 65 percent at the end of 2020.
This category does not include hybrid or plug-in hybrid vehicles.
Hybrids use more than one power source.
Electric cars have steadily grown during the same period.
Fully electric vehicles now represent 24.3 percent of all passenger cars in Denmark.
Mobility Denmark represents the Danish automotive industry.
CEO Mads Rørvig said petrol cars were dominant on Danish roads for decades.
He noted that pure petrol cars now form a minority.
The shift shows how strongly electric vehicles have expanded in just a few years.
