Novo Nordisk Foundation to Build Quantum Chip Factory in Copenhagen

The Novo Nordisk Foundation will build a quantum chip factory in Copenhagen. The foundation is dedicating over 2.9 billion Danish kroner to quantum technology. This investment will strengthen local research and technology infrastructure in the city. The new production facility is expected to open in 2027.

Quantum chips calculate and process information much faster than regular computers. This technology can help researchers develop new medicine more quickly. It can also optimize energy systems and strengthen cybersecurity.

European Commission Executive Vice President Henna Virkkunen welcomed the project. She said strengthening chip production is vital for European competitiveness and technology sovereignty. The initiative will position Copenhagen as a key hub for advanced European technology.
