Applicants will receive notification emails starting on October 5.
Nearly 189,000 people applied for just 45,000 available spots.
Organizer Sparta Atletik & Løb announced the record numbers on Thursday.
This year, the race welcomed 35,000 runners to the city streets.
Organizers expanded the capacity to 45,000 spots for the 2027 race.
However, they limited entries to protect runner safety and event quality.
Chief executive Dorte Vibjerg said they could not accept every runner.
Organizers started drawing names right after registration closed overnight.
Runners could apply alone or in groups of up to three people.
Group applications will either win together or miss out together.
Selected runners must buy their tickets within 48 hours.
Each ticket costs 795 Danish kroner plus an administrative fee.
The organizers switched to a lottery to give everyone an equal chance.
Tickets were previously sold on a first-come, first-served basis.
Major events in Berlin and London use similar lottery registration systems.
The race will take place on September 19, 2027.
