/ DANGDI / DANGDI / DANGDI /Foreign residents in Denmark voted more in the 2025 municipal elections than before. However, fewer than one in three non-Danish citizens cast a ballot. This means internationals still have a much lower turnout than Danish voters.
A University of Copenhagen study shows 31.7 percent of eligible foreign residents voted. By contrast, 73.4 percent of Danish citizens voted in the local elections. The research highlights voting differences by country of origin and across Danish municipalities.
Voting in local elections gives foreign residents a direct voice in local community decisions. The Copenhagen Post reported these latest voting figures.
