/ DANGDI / DANGDI / DANGDI /If you plan to travel to France, check local advice. Denmark's Ministry of Foreign Affairs warns travelers to avoid all protests in France. Unrest and clashes with police remain possible in major cities like Paris.
French authorities may impose night curfews on very short notice. Local curfews were already set in parts of Paris and northern cities. These cities include Lille, Douai, Wattignies, and Denain. In Paris, restrictions began at 11 p.m. on Monday. In other cities, curfews ran from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.
French Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu stated that curfews helped restore calm. Local prefects and mayors can issue new curfews if violence starts again. The warnings follow massive weekend protests across France. Hundreds of thousands of people marched against high living costs.
The protests caused widespread damage to businesses. Between 300 and 400 shops were vandalized in Paris alone. Nationwide, about 2,000 shops suffered damage. Police arrested over 1,800 people across the country on Saturday.
