More Cancer Patients Survive Five Years in Denmark
Seven out of ten cancer patients in Denmark now live at least five years after diagnosis, according to new health data.

/ DANGDI / DANGDI / DANGDI /More people in Denmark now survive cancer than ten years ago. Seven out of ten cancer patients live at least five years after diagnosis. Ten years ago, only six out of ten survived five years. The Danish Health Data Authority published these new health numbers.
However, recent overall progress has slowed down. Compared to 2020 to 2022, survival rose two percentage points for women. For men, the five-year survival rate rose by one percentage point.
Lung cancer showed the biggest improvement of all cancer types. For women, lung cancer survival rose from 21 to 39 percent since 2011. For men, lung cancer survival increased from 14 to 29 percent. Authorities attribute the gains to targeted efforts in the healthcare system. Danish broadcaster DR reported these latest statistics.
