/ DANGDI / DANGDI / DANGDI /Cancer survival rates in Denmark have reached a new milestone. More than seven in ten patients now survive for at least five years. This comes from the latest Danish Health Data Authority figures. The report covers patients diagnosed between 2023 and 2025.
Ten years ago, the five-year survival rate was just above six in ten. Deputy director Jesper Juel-Helwig noted that survival keeps rising. However, the growth speed has slowed down slightly.
Lung cancer survival showed the biggest progress for both men and women. For women, the five-year survival rate jumped from 21 percent to 39 percent. For men, it rose from 14 percent to 29 percent. Survival for liver and pancreatic cancers also improved notably.
The Danish Cancer Society welcomed these positive statistics. Managing director Jesper Fisker said Denmark moved from Europe's bottom to near the top. He credited national cancer care programs started nearly 20 years ago. Better research and coordinated care also drove this success, CPH Post reported.
