Hacker standard access to 8.8 million Danish CPR records
A security breach exposed names, addresses, and CPR numbers of 8.8 million people in Denmark.

/ DANGDI / DANGDI / DANGDI /Personal data of nearly 8.8 million people in Denmark has been exposed. A hacker gained access to the national CPR system for almost 22 days. The exposed information includes names, addresses, and CPR identification numbers.
The breach occurred through a small company based on Funen. This firm had legitimate access rights to the CPR register. Authorities discovered the breach after receiving a huge invoice for searches.
About 14 million CPR searches were made using the company's account. The unauthorized access started on September 10 and was stopped on October 2. Preliminary findings show the hacker activity ended on September 20.
Research and Digitalization Minister Christina Egelund admitted that security measures were inadequate. She has ordered a full security review of the CPR register. CPH Post and TV 2 reported these details from official documents.
