Gender Pay Gap in Denmark Narrows Slightly in 2025

The gender pay gap in Denmark dropped for the first time in three years. In 2025, women in Denmark earned on average 12.3 percent less than men.

This figure is down from 12.9 percent in the previous year. The new data comes directly from Danmarks Statistik.

Lower earnings affect daily disposable income for women in Denmark. Helle Dalsgaard from Sampension explained the long-term impact on female workers. Lower wages lead to smaller pension savings over a working career. This leaves women with less financial security during retirement.

Danmarks Statistik has tracked the pay gap since 2004. Back then, the gap stood at 16 percent. The smallest gap occurred in 2020 at 11.9 percent.
