This decision will influence trade, research, and work guidelines for Chinese residents in Denmark.
Members of Parliament approved the policy proposal on Wednesday.
The final vote was 454 in favour, 86 against, and 110 abstentions.
The parliament calls for dialogue alongside a strategic de-risking plan.
The strategy focuses on key areas like semiconductors, batteries, and electric vehicles.
It also covers pharmaceuticals, supply chains, and technology investments.
Lawmakers want stricter screening for foreign investments in Europe.
They also demand fair trade access for European companies in China.
Rapporteur Hilde Vautmans noted that Europe wants cooperation where possible.
However, Europe will protect its economic interests and security values.
Direct talks between European lawmakers and Chinese officials restarted last year.
Parliamentary teams visited China three times between March and June 2026.
Another delegation will travel to Beijing in October 2026.
EU Commissioner Šefčovič is also visiting Beijing to discuss economic relations.
The EU reaffirmed its One China policy during the vote.
