/ DANGDI / DANGDI / DANGDI /Residents in Denmark and Sweden may soon find it easier to move to Canada. The European Union and Canada are launching a new alliance on Friday. This deal will expand options to study, work, and live across the Atlantic.
Leaders from both sides are meeting in Montreal on October 29 and 30. They plan to establish the Canada-EU Alliance for the Future. The main goal is to build common prosperity and economic security.
The agreement will boost mobility for students, workers, and researchers. Canada plans to join the EU Erasmus+ education program. Both sides will also create a new Youth Mobility Partnership. This partnership will lower barriers for young workers and students.
The plan focuses on recognizing professional qualifications across borders. Highly skilled workers and researchers will benefit from easier mobility rules. The partnership builds on the CETA trade deal signed in 2016.
EU leader Ursula von der Leyen suggested making Canada an associate EU member. However, several EU countries objected because EU treaties do not allow this status. The news was reported by news website The Local.
