/ DANGDI / DANGDI / DANGDI /Online orders from outside Europe will soon cost more in Denmark and Sweden. The European Union will add a new 2 euro processing fee on imported parcels. The extra charge begins on Sunday November 1st.
This fee applies to all packages from non-EU countries regardless of value. It is calculated based on each product category inside a single shipment. For example, a parcel with t-shirts, shoes, and hats has three categories. That parcel will incur a total fee of 6 euros.
The new charge comes on top of a 3 euro tax active since July. That tax applies to small parcels worth under 150 euros. Shopping platforms can bill these fees at checkout. Delivery companies cannot ask for extra money at your door.
The EU created the fee to cover rising customs control costs. Nearly 5.9 billion small parcels entered the EU in 2025. About 93 percent came from China via platforms like Shein and Temu. Customs authorities say they cannot check every parcel for dangerous items.
The 3 euro tax has already reduced small parcel flows by about 64 percent. The 2 euro processing fee is permanent and subject to review every two years. The 3 euro tax will be scrapped in July 2028. After that, regular EU customs duties will apply to small packages.
