Over 200,000 current and former users could be affected by the attack.
Unauthorized people compromised several DTU user profiles to enter the database.
They stole a large amount of personal information during the breach.
Exposed data could include Danish CPR personal identification numbers.
It may also include home addresses and telephone numbers.
DTU has not yet confirmed exactly what information was taken.
They are still checking how many users were impacted.
A cybersecurity expert warned that universities are prime targets for hackers.
Jens Myrup Pedersen is a cybersecurity professor at Aarhus University.
He stated that universities store vast amounts of personal data.
Many institutions still rely on older computer systems.
These old systems may not meet expected security standards in 2026.
