/ DANGDI / DANGDI / DANGDI /Workers in Denmark will get only six weekday public holidays in 2027. Four of the ten official holidays will fall on weekends. Christmas Day and Boxing Day fall on a Saturday and Sunday. This structure limits extra time off for Monday-to-Friday employees next year. Planning trips early helps you make the most of long weekends.
The year begins with New Year’s Day on Friday, January first. Easter brings a long weekend in late March. Good Friday falls on March twenty-sixth. Easter Monday is on March twenty-ninth. Ascension Day arrives on Thursday, May sixth. Whit Monday follows on May seventeenth.
Some special days do not guarantee a day off for workers. These days include Labour Day on May first and Constitution Day on June fifth. Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve are also special days. Shops and restaurants often close on these dates, especially Christmas Eve.
Great Prayer Day will not return as a public holiday in 2027. The former government cancelled the holiday in 2023. The new government wants to restore it by 2030. That proposal has not yet passed into law. According to reporting by The Local, workers must wait for that extra day off.
