Denmark Marks Bank Holiday and Birthday Events with Free Cultural Festivals

Denmark hosts several major public events and festivals this week. This includes royal celebrations, cultural festivals, and bank holiday closures. Supermarkets and shops across Denmark will close for the Pinse bank holiday. Residents in Copenhagen should prepare for widespread travel and traffic disruptions.

The annual Royal Run takes place on Pinse Monday across five Danish cities. Runners will gather in Copenhagen, Helsingør, Middelfart, Randers, and Ringkøbing. King Frederik and his family will make special appearances at the event. King Frederik also celebrates his 58th birthday on Tuesday. The Royal Family will greet well-wishers from the Amalienborg Palace balcony. A special guard changing ceremony with red uniforms starts at 11:50.

CPH Stage Theatre festival starts Thursday with performances in English and Danish. The Bloom Festival offers free entry in Søndermarken on May 29 weekend. Visitors can enjoy science talks, music, and unusual fermented foods. The Danish National Gallery opens free on Friday from 16:00.
