/ DANGDI / DANGDI / DANGDI /Denmark has restricted public searches on its digital land registration system.
The move follows an unusual surge of 17.2 million queries in several days.
Authorities introduced new safeguards to keep the database stable and prevent potential fraud.
This public system contains basic details about properties, cooperative housing, and vehicles.
The Danish Court Administration noticed the activity after system disruptions in week 41.
A typical week sees fewer than two million lookups.
Land Registration Court President Rikke Holler said the searches were legal.
The queries did not require a MitID login.
However, the extreme volume caused concern among officials.
Justice Minister Nicolai Wammen informed the Danish Parliament about the incident.
Authorities have not identified what caused the sudden surge.
The Court Administration warned that public data could help scammers make fraud look real.
They referenced a recent leak involving 8.8 million Danish CPR numbers.
Wammen urged people never to share passwords or confidential information.
Do not trust callers or emails just because they know some personal details.
Search limits are now active to maintain system stability.
Queries have already decreased following these new measures, according to CPH Post.
