/ DANGDI / DANGDI / DANGDI /If you plan to cross into Denmark from Germany, prepare for continued border checks. Denmark has extended its temporary border controls with Germany for another six months. Travelers entering the country may face inspections until May 17, 2027.
Justice Minister Nicolai Wammen informed the European Commission about the decision on Wednesday. The Justice Ministry announced the news in an official statement. Border checks were previously set to expire on November 11. That deadline followed a four-month extension announced in June.
Normally, the Schengen Agreement allows travel between member countries without routine checks. However, rules introduced in 2024 allow countries to keep controls if security risks remain. Wammen stated that Denmark still faces security threats from terrorism and sabotage. He said border control is vital for public safety. He also cited recent events in the Spanish territory of Ceuta as an example.
Under the extended rules, authorities can stop anyone crossing from Germany into Denmark. Border officers may ask you to show valid travel documents. You must prove your right to enter or stay in Denmark. (According to CPH Post)
