/ DANGDI / DANGDI / DANGDI /Traveling between Germany and Denmark will require passport checks for another six months.
Denmark is extending border controls at its German land and sea borders until May 17, 2027.
Justice Minister Nicolai Wammen notified the European Commission on Wednesday.
The checks were previously set to expire on November 11.
They followed a four-month extension announced in June.
Officials cited ongoing security threats involving terrorism and sabotage.
Wammen also pointed to recent border developments in Ceuta, North Africa.
Under Schengen rules, European borders are usually open without routine checks.
However, rules updated in 2024 allow countries to keep controls during serious threats.
Anyone entering Denmark from Germany may be stopped by authorities.
Travelers must carry valid documentation confirming their right to enter or remain.
