Denmark Ends Citizenship Freeze and Resubmits Stalled Bill
Denmark will resubmit its stalled citizenship bill, clearing the way for over 2,000 applicants to receive citizenship.

/ DANGDI / DANGDI / DANGDI /Denmark will end its current citizenship freeze. The government will resubmit the stalled citizenship bill before summer. This decision brings relief to over two thousand applicants. Those listed on the January bill can now obtain Danish citizenship soon.
The original bill was cancelled due to an early election call. Immigration officials will recheck all two thousand fifty-five cases. Applicants must still meet basic residency and financial requirements. They must not have new debts or criminal convictions. Children who turned eighteen during the freeze are no longer covered.
People on this specific bill will skip new screening rules. Future applicants must undergo checks for social media posts and political attitudes. The government wants citizens who accept local values. Immigration minister Morten Bodskøv expects parliament to pass the resubmitted bill. Applicants on the list could become Danish citizens by autumn.
