Denmark Delays Citizenship Bill and Warns of Major CPR Data Breach
Danish officials announced delays to a citizenship bill while warning residents about a massive personal data breach.

/ DANGDI / DANGDI / DANGDI /Denmark will resubmit a stalled citizenship bill in the first half of 2027. This decision affects 2,055 applicants and their children. Applicants must undergo a fresh background review before the bill moves forward. Immigration Minister Morten Bødskov confirmed parliament will revisit the legislation.
The review will check if applicants still fulfill Denmark's strict requirements. Some previously approved applicants could be excluded if their debt or residence status changed. Children who turned 18 during the delay will also be excluded. Denmark plans to introduce a new value-screening model for applicants.
Meanwhile, a major security breach exposed 8.8 million personal CPR numbers in Denmark. Intruders abused a private company's access to extract names and addresses. Authorities stopped the company's system access and reported the case to the police.
