/ DANGDI / DANGDI / DANGDI /Danish authorities will cull 27,000 turkeys on Monday after a bird flu outbreak.
The virus was found in a flock in Stokkemarke on Lolland.
This is Denmark's second confirmed outbreak within a single week.
An earlier outbreak was found on Friday in Bøgelunde in Slagelse Municipality.
The Danish Veterinary and Food Administration reported both incidents.
The agency urges bird owners to keep their animals away from wild birds.
Owners should protect animal feed and drinking water from wild birds.
Staff should also change footwear before entering bird keeping areas.
Authorities established protection and surveillance zones around the infected flock on Lolland.
Stricter disease control rules now apply inside these restricted zones.
The restrictions will remain until authorities finish their investigations.
Officials stated that avian influenza very rarely spreads to humans.
However, people must avoid touching sick, weakened, or dead wild birds.
Denmark's overall threat assessment for bird flu remains at a medium level.
