Danish Study: Young Women Face Pressure Over Sexual Boundaries

A new Danish study shows young women face strong performance pressure during sex. Many young women take part in sexual acts they do not want. The study was done by Sex & Samfund and polling company Voxmeter. They surveyed people aged 15 to 25 in Denmark.

More than one in three young women pretended to enjoy sex. They felt pressure to perform well. One in six young women did things they did not want to do.

Men reported lower numbers. Less than one in ten young men pretended to enjoy sex. About 4.7 percent agreed to acts they did not want.

Sex & Samfund leader Majbrit Berlau commented on the findings. She said young women often fear negative reactions if they say no. Many young people understand consent in theory. However, they struggle to set boundaries in practice. They focus heavily on pleasing their partner.

The organization called for better sex education in Denmark. One in three young people said school sex education was not useful. Many rely on friends and social media instead. One in three young people also use pornography as an information source, CPH Post reported.
