/ DANGDI / DANGDI / DANGDI /Many families in Denmark may lose state support for young adults living at home. A new government proposal targets the student grant known as SU. This change could cost affected households up to 12,000 Danish kroner every year.
The proposal affects around 18,000 families across the country. Earlier this year, these same households received special financial help from the state. Those payments helped families manage high costs for food and fuel. They ranged between 2,500 and 5,000 Danish kroner per family.
Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen defended the planned cuts during a parliament debate. She said young people in school should work to earn their own money. Opposition leaders criticized the government for targeting vulnerable families. Think tank Cepos and TV 2 originally reported the figures, as reported by CPH Post.
