Danish Online Banking Fraud Drops 51 Percent From Peak
Danish banks report a sharp drop in online banking fraud due to better detection and public awareness.

Danish banks registered 2,571 fraud cases in the first half of 2026.
This represents a 51 percent drop compared to early 2023.
The data comes from Finans Danmark, the main banking association.
Better detection systems and growing public awareness helped drive the decline.
Scammers tried to steal 74.7 million Danish kroner during early 2026.
Actual money lost totaled 38.1 million Danish kroner.
This total loss is almost 16 percent lower than the previous six months.
In over half of the reported cases, victims suffered no financial loss.
Jens Myrup Pedersen is a cybersecurity professor at Aarhus University.
He pointed out that banks now catch suspicious transfers much faster.
Banks have also lowered transfer limits to protect customer funds.
However, criminals still frequently use phone calls or fake messages.
More than half of the cases involved impersonating banks or police officers.
Malene Gøttge Rasmussen advised people to hang up if they feel suspicious.
