/ DANGDI / DANGDI / DANGDI /Buying a home in Copenhagen is becoming less competitive as market sales drop. Danish housing transactions fell 12 percent in September 2026 compared to last year. In Copenhagen, apartment sales dropped by 23 percent this year.
Property portal Boligsiden reported 7,709 home sales nationwide in September. Total sales for the first nine months fell three percent. Nationwide apartment sales dropped eight percent during the same period.
Rising mortgage rates are a major reason for the market slowdown. Fixed-rate mortgages now range between four and five percent. At the start of the year, rates were around 3.5 percent. Higher costs for energy and fuel also reduce household buying power.
Despite higher costs, strong employment and wage growth still support buyers. Holiday home sales even rose by 4.5 percent this year. Industry experts say this shows many families remain financially secure.
