Danish Electricity Prices Hit Highest Level Since 2022

Danish electricity bills will be higher for September.

Raw energy prices hit their highest level since December 2022.

Energy company OK reported that prices rose across Denmark.

East of the Storebælt bridge, raw electricity averaged 1.07 Danish kroner per kilowatt hour.

West of the bridge, the average raw price was 1.05 Danish kroner per kilowatt hour.

Consumers pay standard taxes, fees, and tariffs on top of this raw rate.

Prices were much lower during the same month last year.

Last September, electricity east of the bridge cost 0.62 Danish kroner per kilowatt hour.

West of the bridge, last year's rate was 0.54 Danish kroner per kilowatt hour.

Weather conditions played a major role in the price increase.

Denmark experienced weak winds and limited sunlight throughout September.

Geopolitical uncertainty also pushed up global gas prices.

OK commercial director Troels Skipper noted that renewable energy could not lower market costs.
